A lot of 3 bibles published in Edinburgh by Sir D. Hunter Blair and J Bruce, all of which belong two generations of one family. One Barbara Wright appears to have married a William Conrad and then recorded the births of their children. As a set the bibles thus tell a family history.
1818-1819 Bible complete in two volumes. Annotated with the name William Conrad. Contains Old Testament, New Testament, Psalms, and Translations and Paraphrases in Verse.
Strap which would have held Volume 1's tab in place is missing. Wrapper is generally scuffed and worn from regular use but remains attractive.
1823 Bible complete in two volumes. Wrappers embossed with Barbara wright in gilt. Volume 1's first page annotated with the family's births. Contains Old Testament, New Testament, Psalms, and Translations and Paraphrases in Verse.
Both intact but worn and rubbed, Volume 2 more than Volume 1. Binders label indicates they were bound by one J Shearer of Stirling, who may have bound this whole lot of books given their matching wrappers.
1828 Bible complete in one volume. Belonged to Janet Wright, as there is a gift inscription addressed to her on the second page, and a record of the date of her death on the first. Contains Old Testament, New Testament, Psalms, and Translations and Paraphrases in Verse. Leather still shiny and red, probably the best condition of the lot.
