I suspect this was done to save costs on binding when people would have multiple books bound together to save costs.
Quarter leather bound book has some marks on the boards; gilt titles on spine visible; fore edges overall clean; previous owner signature on ffep; ex-library stamp on ffep and back of title page; throughout very clean; more photographs and information upon request
