Good condition- Leather binding repaired circa 1897 (per an inscription to endpaper in Volume 1), front hinge of volume 3 cracked along bottom 2/3rds, top third still attached. Otherwise bindings sound. Moderate wear to edges of spines and boards, corners of boards rubbed. Pages bound firmly with folds only to some endpapers, light foxing, Signatures to endpapers.
Volume 1, A tour in Scotland 1769, is a 1776 4th Edition with 40 plates. Its front endpapers and preliminary pages up to the list of plates are loose and detached.
Volume 2, A tour in Scotland and Voyage to the Hebrides 1772 part 1 is a 1776 2nd edition with 44 plates
Volume 3, A tour in Scotland and Voyage to the Hebrides 1772 part 2 is a 1776 copy, no edition remarks, presumed 1st, with 47 plates.
Set also includes a map of the tours published by Benjamin White in 1777. Map loose, not attached to any particular volume.
